Consultant Appointed for Viability Study

Salford's Victorian 'Sleeping Beauty' may reprise its role as a gem of the community, even as a theatre, as we have commissioned a team of experienced consultants to assist, carrying out a viability study!

Whilst we continue our efforts to keep it's spirit alive, our latest mission has been attracting more and more interested parties to get involved, and our latest mammoth milestone is that we have successfully appointed a consultant and team for the viability study that will assess whether the building has a sustainable feasibility as a theatre, as well as being open to exploring other uses too.

With invaluable support from the team at the Theatres Trust, the core team were busy inviting recommended consultants, reviewing tender proposals and interviewing shortlisted companies, made up of experienced contractors from across the country.

Therefore, we are delighted to have appointed Colliers International, working with Foster Wilson Architects and Theatresearch, to carry out the viability study to determine the best use for the building.

Chairman of SVTT, Sam Kelly told us: "[We] have real opportunity to save the building for the community. We hope that the report will give us the option to re-open 'the Vic' as a theatre and become a meeting point in the community; a cultural hub, providing entertainment, generating creativity and engagement in community activities, as well as improving the well-being of the community and creating opportunities for training for local people in all aspects of performing arts, and the technical and management skills involved in running a theatre. We have had so much support and memories from so many people but we'll have to wait and see what the study reveals first."
